Parc de la Ciutadella

The Park of Ciutadella was the first public park projected as such. The original idea came from Josep Fontseré, who wanted to remodel the area inside the fortress built by Felipe V after his victory in 1714. In 1888, the park was modified in order to host the 1st World Fair, which took place in Barcelona. Today, the park holds a great variety of plants, which can be admired by the visitors. The park is a big centre to entertainment and cultural events and the perfect setting to the Parliament of Catalonia and other emblematic buildings such as the three-dragon castle or the greenhouse.

Parque Güell

It was built during the Modernist artistic period (beginning of the 20th century) to become a park with a personality of it own.
It is a work by Antoni Gaudí: its design keeps in harmony with the environment thanks to the colours of the ceramics and original shapes. In terms of vegetation, we must emphasize the pine and palm trees planted all around.
Overall, the park is an architecture masterpiece.
